4/28/13 update

Tyler is doing well, his Korean is improving (not sure about his English though:)! We're sure proud of him!  Here's his latest, ENJOY!

Wow were to start! haha what a crazy awesome week! :) So sadly I got sick again :) haha there is some weird thing going through the mission that sadly I came down with. But hopefully it will pass soon :) This week oh goodness so many miracles I don't even know where to begin! :) Me and Elder Barney have been working as hard as ever, and this week we had Zone conference and it was just amazing! Totally what we needed. Heavenly father is defnitely always aware of our needs and places people in our lives to bless us and help us ever step of the way through the struggles of life :) So my Korean is improving just as well as ever! I am so greatful for this wonderful blessing! I am able to understand pretty much 80% of everything I hear and can usually communicate well back! And I am working super hard to get better every day. So this week me and Elder Barney have met some super sweet people. We have 7 new investigators from this week and we are working super hard to get them all progressing! What a wonderful blessing. This is the last week of the Transfer so we are working super hard to end on a good note with hopes it will carry in to the next transfer! :) Things have been super fun. We went to a member's house on thursday and role played the lessons with him! It was awesome I learned so much in such a short amount of time! :) He doesn't know like any english at all so all the learning was Korean taught and the spirit was just so strong! And it carried over so well into the lesson we taught that night to 김일환! He is such a sweet guy and I have really enjoyed teaching and getting to know him and his little kids!:) We got a member to come with us and teach this week and it just so happens they were Highschool best friends! And they totally got along fantastic and I could definitely tell it was just what 김일환 needed! :) Well this week is going to be super busy! I can't wait to see how it all goes! :) Sorry I haven't sent any pics for a while I will definitley send some as soon as I can! Anyways love you all and hope all is going well! :) Keep working hard! And thanks so much for the prayers and the updates! :) It is so great to hear from you all!

April 21st update

{translation by Dad} - Enjoy :)

So as for a weekly update....so I have been trying to take good pictures but my camera has been messing up like crazy so I can't get any real good pics. I think I may have to get a new camera. Hopefully soon so I can get some cool pictures sent to you of all the cherry blossoms and everything here :) it is gorgeous :) So this week was cool :) It rained really hard the past few days which made 길 전도 {Street Proselyting}  difficult but it was stiill super fun :) We also set up a bunch more basketball appointments the Korean's really like seeing a big huge 외국인{American} come and dunk and play with them :) it is awesome I cant wait! :) we are also meeting with almost all our investigators this week, things are really busy though here as everyone is getting ready for end of the year tests which are extremly important here. So it is slightly difficult to meet with people but we still have a ton of appointments and the work is definitely progressing :) My Korean is coming along pretty well! I finished "Pass-off" which is like the missions language learning program. It is supposed to take at least 3 transfers. I finished in 8weeks! :) and I have truly been blessed to be able to understand and learn so much it is awesome! :) So this week one of the 전안 회환 (Cheonan Members) went on 전도{Splits} with us and it was so awesome to learn so much from him. His name is 죄전규. He is in a Wheelchair because a few years ago he was working in an elevator shaft and fell down and broke his back and several other things. But he has such a strong testimony of the Healing Power of the Atonement and it is awesome! I have learned so much from him and his unwavering trust in God. We are going to start meeting with him once a week to role play lessons so we can learn from him :) he trained 9 missionaries on his mission! That is a ton! :) haha So we are planning on learning a ton! :) I can't wait. It seems like everyday we learn so much more and I look back on the day and realize all I have learned and it is so awesome. And we have been getting tons of 식사 {Meals} from the members! :) We are really growing close with them all it is awesome! :) Anyways I wish I could tell all the stories from the week but I never seem to have enough time. I hope all is going well! :) Keep working hard and always remember that your Savior loves you so much. I have learned that because he loves us so much he allows us for us to have struggles and trials. They are hard, but it is through them that we grow the most. Never give up hope. Christ has promised to always be with us and give us the strength we need to get through all our struggles :) I know this is true. Always look for ways to grow from the struggles and remember that God has promised us that if we endure them well and endure to the end we will have eternal life and be able to return and live with him. This to me is worth every struggle. This life is hard, and time never stops, but the next life will be glorious beyond measure. Always find hope in Christ and remember you can do it! :) I love you all, keep working hard and giving your all. I promise it will always be worth it in the end! :) Seek ye the kingdom of God.

Amazing week, Pic

Hey everyone! :) holy cow this week has been crazy :) haha where to start, eh it doesn't even do it justice trying to explain it all :) The highlight of my week was definitely conference though! :) It was so amazing to get to hear the words of the prophets and to learn so much. I felt my spirit and faith grow so much and received many thoughts of inspiration and guidance :) This week has been crazy! The beautiful cherry blossoms are starting to bloom here in 한국 it is so beatiful. Pictures really don't do it justice. I will try to get a cool picture this week though to send and show it :) so we have been super busy this week. haha. I have learned so much. It is crazy to think back and see all that has happened this week. Time goes so fast and it seems like we never get a chance to breath sometimes but it is so amazing :) So this week we started off the week meeting with a college student named 길리현. He has met with the missionaries before but for some reason he stopped so we called him up and he wanted to meet. We sat down with him and the meeting was just amazing :) the spirit was so strong and he is definitely feeling the savior's love and peace in his life it was awesome :) We are meeting with him again tonight and I can't wait :) We then went to a different 대학교 and met a bunch of students :) We scheduled several basketball appointments cuz the want to play ball with a big 회국인 foreigner who can dunk now ;) in a suit ;) woot woot :) haha God blesses you in ways other than just spiritually on your mission ;) haha anyways so we have several basketball appointments followed by teaching english and about our church with them :) I am super excited :) and as we were visiting less active members this week we ran into this guy on the street who was just amazing :) He is dating this girl from Thailand that he met in Texas as they went to school. He studied English so he wants to sit down and learn more from us and just talk with us. That was exciting and all and then out of no where he was like so you teach about Christ? And we were like yeah we are missionaries :) He was like I have been trying to believe in Christ for a long time but just haven't been able to get the help. The guy is great :) We are going to meet with him this week and talk to him about everything :) I can't wait. And then we had a great zone meeting that was just super powerful and I was asked to do some training on 'Who is Christ'. Seems simple but I was just thinking how on earth can I ever completely describe Christ in all his glory and majesty. As I prepared I felt his helping hand so strong and I definitely came to know him way better! It was so amazing and I will never forget the amazing experience. He truly loves us and is always there for us! :) We are also looking forward to meeting with all of our investigators this week again :) They are so amazing. It is awesome! :) I am so grateful God has blessed me so much to be a part of their spiritual growth and to be here to help them. He has blessed me in so many ways. My Korean is growing so fast. And my companionship is just awesome :) Elder Barney is great and we are just giving are all every day and relying on the Lord to help us :) It is so great.
Anyways I hope all is going well :) I love you all and can't wait to hear from you! :)

Blessings

Mixed with personal family replies, Tyler reported much improvement to his health, and that he could feel the power of the prayers from everyone in his behalf! Thank you all for your encouraging letters, and particularly your faith and prayers for his well being and success. Thank you! Below is his latest update, enjoy!

So as for me holy cow I don't even know where to start! This week I have seen so many 죽복(blessings)(sorry ill just right in english :) haha) it is crazy! So I have to admit when transfer first started I was pretty stressed. I didn't know how me and my companion where going to get through this transfer. Neither of us knew very much Korean, our area is super huge, we only had one investigator, and we were both pretty much brand new to Missionary work, in a country where we hardly could communicate. Me and my companion have been working so hard in every aspect of life and missionary work. I can honestly say I have never worked so hard in my life. And we have turned and put our trust 100% in Christ and our heavenly father. And since we have done that holy cow have we been blessed. I really don't even know where to start. God has truly been with us ever step this past week. Me and Elder Barney have set some big goals and as we work and strive our hardest to reach our goals Heavenly father always last minute gives us what we need to reach them. Our Korean has improved tremendously! I can communicate with just about anyone and can understand about 70% of everything is going on. It is amazing. I know I wouldn't be able to do this with out the blessing of the Holy Ghost and I this setting apart as a missionary. Forgive me if my English is kinda bad sometimes. Me and Elder Barney have been SYLing(Speak Your Language) as much as possible so honestly I haven't been speaking a whole lot of English and I am working really hard on being able to completely understand all the Korean and communicate really well. But the language is just the start of where heavenly father has been blessing us this week. We have been so blessed in finding people. We started out this week with 0 progressing investigators and 2 potential investigators. We got down and prayed super hard to our father in Heaven asking him to help us. We outlined our ideas for finding people this week and prayed to him and told him how we were going to look for people and how we were going to work our hardest and that we needed his help to find people that we could help. Holy cow lets just say this next week we have had to cancel 2 member dinners because we are so busy meeting with other people!!!! God blessed us so much. We have again sat down and planned out our week and we will be literally running from a few appointments to get to other places in time. God definitely has been helping us a ton, I think this because two foreign missionaries who don't know the language or anything definitely would not only have a hard time finding people to talk to that they can understand, but would also have a really hard time teaching and helping people. We have had so many last minute miracles this week that have just made everything go perfectly. It is so awesome to see how if you do everything you can, and you work your hardest, and then put your trust in the Lord knowing that he knows what is best and will always help you, how the miracles just come and God never stops giving. I can't wait to get back out there and just talk and help people. Me and Elder Barney are just super great working together and we have truly been blessed to accomplish a ton of things. This next week will definitely be another week where we put all our weight and trust in the lord and just give our best. I have know doubt that he will be with us this week and will help us every step of the way. I know things may not always happen how we want or how we expect but Heavenly Father always knows what's best and always helps and wants us to be happy. I love you all so much! Thank you for all your prayers and letters! I love hearing from you and knowing how everything is going and I can definitely feel the blessings from your prayers! :) Youre awesome!

PS. I hope conference was good! :) we dont get to see it til this next week! You lucky ducks :) I am super jealous you all got to see it a week early :) haha anyways I can't wait to see it! I hope all is going well. Love you all!!!
