Final goals... and blessings

Wow this week has gone by so fast and i have truly been so blessed. I don't have a lot of time so  ill make today's email breif but this past week has been amazing! :) so i set my goals for my last transfer a couple weeks ago and as time has been going by i have been really wondering how on earth i would be able to accomplish these goals. Ill be honest i was starting to get a little down towards the end of last week. The one that was particularly bothering me was that i had made it a goal to baptize one more person before i got home and long story short there wasn't anyone they we could find that would be able to get baptized in that time. I had been searching and asking members and praying harder than ever it seemed. and nothing was happening. last week i was starting to have the sad thought that i ddidn't think i would be able to accomplish that goal and that i would simply have to do everything i could to accomplish my remaining goals. But then i got a phone call. :) one of my old investigators from Daejeon committed to get baptized!!! IN 3 days!!!!! And not only that but he said He had to get baptized  by me and that he didn't want anyone else to baptize him :) anyways president gave me permission to make the 3 and a half hour trip up to daejeon to baptize him last saturday! and it was just an amazing experience all the way around! Just a testiment to me that even though it may not be the way we expect it to happen, the lord will always answer our prayers. :) anyways i truly have been blessed. and i know i have so much more that i still need to get done and that is simply one of my goals i wanted to accomplish but i am so grateful to the lord for all the blessing he has given to me! :) anyone i hope you all have an amazing week and remember the many tender mercies of the lord are with us every day. Usually not the way that we think but he is with us and will always answer our prayers! :) I lov eyou all!!!!:)

Time is flying... Lots to learn!

... haha its sure crazy how fast time is flying by. I still feel like i have so much to learn and do....haha wish me luck :) gotta become the man the lord needs me to be! anyways things here are going well :) we have been doing a ton of street contacting lately. haha it has been so fun to get to meet a whole variety of different types of people and hear their stories and talk with them and share our unique and wonderful message to them. some accept and seek to learn more and many refuse, but in the end i feel so blessed to know that the lord loves each and everyone of them and continues to give opportunities that they too might find the joy and happiness that comes from this message. so thats that but the highlight of my week was definitley conference. im sooo jealous you guys got to see it a week before me. but wasn't it absolutely amazing! :) so many of the answers i was looking for! :) The thing that really stuck out to me is how when we truly seek for the witness from the spirit, that the lord will give us that witness so that we can know for ourselves of the truthfullness of everything being taught. anyways things here are going well :) the work is going and the Lord is leading us everyday. im learning a ton and am looking forward to learning so much more. I sure love you all and hope you have an amazing week!

Last transfer

Hey everyone! :) Well this week has been crazy busy! I got transfered down to a little city at the very bottom of the mission called 순천 {Soon Chun}.It is really close to the beach so the weather is just amazing and the area is absolutely beautiful :) Still zone leader down here but instead of working with wards up in 대전 {Dae Jeon} im working with 3 small branches :) im super excited! Its definitely a lot different from what im used to but i know ill be able to learn a ton. my new companion is elder {Kim, Dae Won} 김대원! he is a recent convert and so it has been super cool to get to know him and hear his testimony and stories. He is the only member in his family and he came out here despite the fact that his family and friends all told him not to. He is the best! im excited to get to work with him. Anyways it is so crazy how fast time is flying by. i wish it would slow down a bit! :) haha anyways i hope you all have an absolutely amazing week! I love you all and am praying for you everyday!

Closeness to Heavenly Father, pics!

dang time is flying by crazy fast! heres the weekly update! :)
things are going well here in 둔산. It seems as thought the ward's thoughts on missionary work are starting to really change. and we have seen lots of miracles lately. This past week we found 3 new investigators who all seem very golden. They have some word of wisdom problems it seems but i definitely think they will be baptized within the next transfer or so. we have also been really blessed as we have followed the spirit on the streets to find several less actives in the area that have been thinking about getting back in contact with the church. One guy we found this week was from south america and he has been baptized for two years now but hasn't been to church since he moved here. But since we found him and told him were the church was and got him hooked up with the english branch he is back on his way down the straight and narrow :) anyways i sure feel blessed to be serving here in the Daejeon mission. I have learned so much and the lord is continuing to humble me and teach me so much more everyday. I truly dont want this time to end. The spirit and closness i feel to my heavenly father that i have found on my mission is something i never want to get dimmed by the world. I know the Lord is with each one of us. and often things don't go the way we want them to, or the way we think is best; however as we trust in the Lord we always come to realize that the plan he has for us is so much better than any plan we could make for ourselves. anyways i sure love you all and hope you have an amazing week!

Being a progressive investigator

Hey family! :) well this week has been crazy busy! haha i barely had time to sit down for a meal most of the days! :) but that is just the best feeling as a missionary, and when you feel like you are just dragging yourself into the apartment on sunday night because you are so exahusted is awesome! :) haha anyways this week we were blessed to meet a new investigator named Spencer :) haha ya he is an american, so looks like im gonna have to brush up on my english :) haha but he has a ton of potential! he came out to church on sunday and absolutely loved it and wants to continually keep coming out so we are really looking forward to getting to meet with him! Keep him in your prayers, hopefully his name will be easier to remember than some of our other investigators :) anyways it is so great to get to be a missionary and to be so blessed to get to learn so much everyday. :) haha my new goal is to always be a progressing investigator for the lord! :) haha anyways not always is it comfortable or easy to learn, but it is definiltey always worth it! :) anyways i hope you all have a super awesome week! sure love you and am praying for you!

New comp

so got my new companion elder Hughes this week!!!:) he is so awesome! it has been so awesome to get to serve with him already and im looking forward to seeing the many miracles as we continue to serve together! :) we were blessed to find this awesome less active this week who says he wants us to help him get back on the straight and narrow! :) haha he says its going to be a bit of an underground straight and narrow at first but he will slowly tell his friends and try to prepare them to all hear the lessons as well! :) haha anyways me and Elder hughes 귀환 at pretty much the same time, so neither of us have much time left and we are planning on just baptizing Korea before we head home! :) Haha we started this 40 purification fast to basically try and prepare ourselves as best as we can to call down the powers of heaven, strengthen our zone, stake, and investigators and to do all that we can to truly become the men the Lord intended us to become while we are on our missions! One thing i have truly been grateful for recently is the power of the holy ghost! the power, comfort, strength, and guidance that come from the Holy Ghost are amazing! i feel so blessed to have such a glorious gift from my father in heaven! And i truly want everyone in the world to be able to experience such a wonderful gift! anyways im praying for all of you! :) i am so blessed to know the lord is with you all through all the trials and struggles of this life! I know he truly loves each and everyone of us! we are his children and he is our father! as we rely on him there is truly nothing we can't overcome! I love you all!!!

Families can be together forever, and pics!

wow another transfer has come and gone! I can't believe it! this morning we got transfer calls. I can't believe another transfer is about to come to an end. The time keeps going so fast i feel like i don't even have time to blink :) haha. anyways things here are going super well! we had a great week! One family we have been teaching has really started to opened up and the mom even said that they are already members of our church :) haha. i also had the cool opportunity to teach two people from ethiopia this week with the other missionaries in our district. it was so cool to see how the lord brings people together in all sorts of circumstances to provide them the opportunity to hear about the gospel. anyways so as far as transfers go. my companion 박재우 is getting transfered out ㅠㅠ it has been so great to get to serve with him! he is a great missionary and i have sure learned a ton from him. but im also looking forward to getting to serve with my new companion. His name is Elder Hughes and he comes from good ole' Gilbert Arizona!!!:) haha he went to Highland Highschool and im pretty sure we played against eachother in volleyball a few times! :) He is my younger 동기 so I cant wait to get to serve with him! :) anyways sure learning a lot that is for sure! :) recently i have been so grateful for the Topical Guide and Bible Dictionary in the scriptures! They make morning studies super exciting and they truly help to open the scriptures! :) they have also been super helpful in helping a lot of our investigators! :) anyways i am so grateful for the scriptures and the blessings and knowledge that come from them. There is definitely no doubt in my mind that this church is true! and that our savior, jesus christ, truly suffered for each of us, and that through him we can truly return to live with our heavenly father, and our families forever!  i sure love you all and hope you have an amazing week!

Zone mtg. & a true seeker

( sorry it's late! I forgot to "publish")
Hey family!!!!:) it has been a crazy week! But thats nothing new :) haha Everyday in the life of a missionary is full of tons of surprises, and learning moments! :) But this week has been great! We started off the week with a big group zone meeting we organized with president just because we thought the zone really needed it and it turned out just being amazing! basically just turned into a big huge testimony meeting and the spirit was just so strong! can you imagine 33 missionaries and a mission president and his wife all together baring their testimonies and then closing with a big group prayer for our ward members and investigators! Definitley a crazy awesome experience! :) Anyways aside from that another highlight of the week that we had was a super fun meeting with a new investigator of ours :) haha and by super fun, i mean one of the longest, most in depth lessons i have ever had. haha so i was contacting a bunch of phone numbers of people who have been investigators in the past couple of years and came across this man named 성요한(Song, Yo Han). Anyways i called him and he was superr  excited to meet with us. So we ended up meeting him about one hour later. :) We were planning on just kinda going through our missionary purpose and establishing a good base and figuring out where he was at with believing in God and church and those things. Well that was the plan....haha but needless to say that was not the way the lesson went down. :) Well this guy has been searching for God. And by searching i mean i don't think i have ever met anyone who has searched this hard on my mission. He has read the bible over 20 times start to finish and has memorized all of The Book of Revelations as well as several other books in the New testiment. Truly amazing! Anyways we ended up sitting down with him for almost a total of 4 hours disecting the bible and answering all of his questions and relating to the book of mormon. He was so into it it was rediculously cool! and in the end he walked out with the Book of Mormon determined to read and understand it ! :) As i we taught the lesson the thing that touched me so strongly was how blessed we are to have the Book of Mormon. For it truly is another witness of Jesus Christ and it truly makes clear the ambiguities of the Bible. The Book of Mormon truly answers questions of the soul and i felt so blessed to get to testify of the truthfulness and divinity of it to this man who truly was searching to find his savior. He still has a lot of questions and a long way to go but already you can see the sense of clearity that is starting to come over him :) Im so grateful to be a missionary and a servant of the lord! Anyways i hope you all have had a wonderful week! Im praying for you! :) And sure love you all!

Who we truly are

Hey family! :) sorry i don't have very much time to email today. We ended up having a meeting this morning in the middle of email time with all the other zone leaders haha :) anyways things are going well. our investigators are progressing, haha slowly but sureley :) keep them in your prayers! Especially 최정헌, 박정석, and 박건후 :) their hearts are pure, they just need a little push from the spirit to make the final commitment. The zone is doing good. always keeping us busy that is for sure :) but it is a super awesome experience to be able to assist in helping to train these younger missionaries and see them improve and have the excitement that comes as they figure things out. But the best is just how much more i get to learn as i watch them learn and it always brings back previous experiences and thoughts throughout life. I am truly grateful to my savior for all that he has done for me. I have no doubt that he truly loves each and every one of us. As we bring our weaknesses before him and depend on him to overcome them we truly can come to find who we truly are and gain a strong testimony that through the Lord we truly can accomplish anything. Anyways i love you all and hope you have an amazing week!

Friends before

wow it has been a crazy busy week! :) haha we have had so much to do lately it is hard to get a second to sit down and process everything that has been going on. haha im definiltey learning on a ton everyday, no surprise there right? haha i definitely still have a ton more to learn! This week we had zone conference with our zone and tons of lessons. Me and my new companion 박재우 are going around to all investigators and previous investigators and working to find those who have been prepared by the lord. Right now we have 3 investigators in particular that we are really focusing on so if you could add them to your prayers that would be grately appreciated. They're names are 최정헌 (Choi Cheung Heun) 박건후 (Pak Geun Hoo) and 최현일 (Choi Heun Eeil). and it looks like there should be a few more names to add to that list after this next week :) right now we have about 20 investigators in our area, but most of them don't acutally have a lot of interest in the gospel; simply they have a lot of interest in learning english and finding out why a white guy from america can speak korean. haha but we are working really hard to spark interest in them and get them to progress to their father in heaven. Anyways there is definiltey a ton of work to be done here and im loving ever single moment of it. I have been able to get close with several of  the ward members here and they are just awesome. Often i feel like new people i meet are actually people i have been friends with for a long time before, and considering i have never lived in Korea before, i can't help but think that we were friends before this life. It is a constant reminder of how we are all connected and sons of daughters of our father in heaven. we all lived, grew up, and learned together before, and it is our job to find our brothers and sisters who are searching to find the path back to our father and help them along the way. It is such an amazing experience! Being a missionary is such a huge blessing. :) if anyone is searching for a way to get closer to their savior, do missionary work with all your heart :) it is the most amazing feeling to be able to share the gospel with others and feel the love of your father in heaven working through you. :) anyways i sure love you all and hope you all have a great week!

Glory of God

Hey family and friends! :) wow another week has already come and gone! its is crazy how fast time is flying by! this week has been awesome! First off i went to the doctor on friday to get a check up on my thumb and they were astounded by the results! my lower joint had completely healed and my upper joint was healing quickly! they moved me down to just a splint for my thumb and they are estimating ill only have to wear it for a few more weeks not months!!! holy miracles! :) other than that our investigators are doing well :) we have been able to transfer a lot of our just english interest investigators to gospel interest investigators and they are really asking great questions. Something i have really come to enjoy on my mission is questions :) both personal questions and questions from others:) i always feel like I can draw closer to my savior as i seek for the answers to these questions through my studies. this week something i was thinking about was the nature of God and that led me to the question of what is the actual meaning of bringing to pass the immortality and eternal life of man, God's purpose? I thought about our state before this life. How we are all children of our father in heaven and we dwelled with him as spirits. And it was then that he created the glorious plan for us so that we could become like him. So i then contemplated and thought about what kind of a state we were in before this life that was not in the same state as our father in heaven and i basically came to the conclusion that there were approximately 3 things. The first, although we were his spiritual children we lacked the image of God (i.e a body). Second, we existed but not in a state of glory (i.e we were not glorified beings). and Third was that we lacked the true character of God (ie Christlike Attributes). In order to obtain those things we needed to be separated from God and come to this earth. This prompted Choice. In order to obtain any of the 3 attributes that God had they we lacked we had to exercise choice or our agency. Our first choice was to come to this earth. We could choose to obtain a body or not. We all clearly did so therefore we are here and obtain the 1st attribute. The next two are obtained during this life. The Glory of God is obtained through obediences to the laws and principles of the gospel. in other words keeping the commandments, partaking of the ordinances neccessary for exaltation and living worthy of them at all times. And the final one, or Character, is obtained through the struggles, trails, blessings, relationships, and experiences of this life. There is no short cut to obtaining character. and this is kinda how i came to understand it.... you sow a desire, and reap a thought, sow a thought and reap and action, continually repeating the action reaps a habit, repetion of a habit yeilds a character, and sowing character yeilds our eternal destiny. In other words we work and labor every day focused on righteous desires and as we labor in the spirit we yeild the desired Characteristics that our Savior Jesus Christ emulated. But at the same time the opposite can be true. Therefore as we go through this life we have to constantly be aware and make sure that our thoughts and desires are centered on Christ and continually strive with all our might so that we can obtain the Character of God in the life to come. as preach my gospel says....work work work there is not satisfactory substitute :) so basically that is the answer in a jist that i got to that question :) anyways i hope all is going well back in the states! Sure love you all and am praying for you! I hope you are all safe and sound and are having many wonderful opportunities to see miracles every day in your life! :)

Thumbs up and pics!!

Haha well mom as far as fun stories go i guess i do have one to tell ya :) Looks like i can no longer say i have never wore a cast :) haha i was playing soccer last p-day and i guess one of the other adults wasn't happy that i kept blocking his shots so he came at me a little agressively and the outcome was a broken thumb :) haha but no worries. The doc said i got in soon enough so everything should heal up just perfect. maybe send a few extra prayers my way but im sure things will be all good soon :) ill get to wear this fancy splint for the next little while though. But it has actually been a super great conversation starter. People are always like- wow did you get hurt? and i tease and say no i just wore it cuz i thought it was a good addition to my style and the laugh and then ask how it happened, i tell them soccer, and then they laugh and are like don't you know youre supposed to play soccer with your feet, and i laugh and am like ya my mom told me that and i guess i should listen to her huh? mom always nows best! :) as a matter of fact my mom is awesome she is the one who helped me get out here to Korea. and then they are like oh what are you doing here in korea and then i go right into im a missionary and it is a great way to start a discussion about families and the way they bless us and then get into how the gospel blesses families! :) anyways things are going well over here in good ole Korea! :) at this point i don't even remember what america looks or feels like. haha :) but the work is going well. The ward is really starting to pick up on missionary work. This next week all the auxillary groups are going to come up with goals and plans for how they will work to do member missionary work :) Anyways keep praying for our investigators. We have a few who are really close to entering that path that leads to eternal life :) Particularly pray for 최종헌 형제님과 정총국 형제님 :) {Brother Chwey Jong Hun, and Brother Jeong Chong Gook} If you would i would be ever so grateful! :) haha anyways sure love you all and hope all is going well! Im praying for you!!!!

Mountain climbs

dang i can't believe how fast time is going by. i know i say it every week haha but seriously it just keeps getting faster and faster! :) well this week has been exciting. lots of crazy experiences and definitely been busy. Seems like we always have something going on. and i guess that is a good thing right? :) the last thing you ever want as a missionary is a day were you don't have any appointments or not much of a schedule...haha! anyways things are going super well over here, the ward is full of great members and now we are just working to help them think more about missionary work. The missionaries in my zone are all just crazy awesome. I am so blessed to get to learn so much from them everyday! anyways i have so much i wish i could talk about! but sadly not much time today. Sadly things came up so we had to email kinda late today :) anyways keeping praying for our investigators. They all have their mountains they are working to climb in order to follow their savior. One thing that has been cool though is to just see the light in each one of their eyes. The things they are working to get over are certainly not easy; however you can tell that each one of them has a testimony that it will be worth it! I think that is something i too need to often remember... mountains in life were never meant to be easy to climb. But every mountain we climb will be worth it. Our savior Jesus Christ suffered and knows every one of our pains, our struggles, and our challenges. I know he would never allow us to feel those pains unless he knows it would benefit us. Why would the Lord allow us to have pain, knowing that it would inevitably cause him more pain, if he didn't know it would be for our gain. As we face the challenges in this life i know things will be difficult, painful, and sometimes feel like it is too much to bare. But just keep pushing through. There will always be a light at the end of the tunnel. i hope you all remember how much you are loved. And how big of a difference you can make in another's life by helping them realize how loved they are as well. I love you all and hope you have a great week!

Companionship of the Holy Ghost

wow crazy week! :) haha i can't believe it is already over! things are going super well over here in 대전. sure learning a ton everyday! This week we were busy between investigator appointments, ward appointments, missionary appointments, ward campout, giving a talk on sunday. haha just lots to do this week i guess :) i definitley like the feeling here in 대전! there is always something going on, someone needing help, or something to plan! It is sure great to be a servant of the Lord. Something that has really stuck out to me this week is the importance of the Holy Ghost. I know for a fact i wouldn't be able to do anything without its guidance. Constantly having the companionship of the Holy Ghost has been such a tremendous blessing throughout my mission. From the gifts of the spirit, such as with the language and discerning feelings, to just the comfort and strength that it brings. It is such a humbling experience to see how the spirit can enter the hearts of the children of men and bare witness of our father in heaven and his son Jesus Christ. The clarity, and direction that comes through the spirit is astounding, i can't imagine learning anything without it. There has been several humbling experiences on my mission to the point that i feel as though the Lord has put me in a situation not so that I can teach someone, but literally just so the Lord could come in and touch the life of that person through the Holy Ghost. I don't have much to offer. There is nothing i can come close to teaching as well as the Holy Ghost teaches it ever time. But my favorite part is the part where the spirit gives me the chance to bare my personal testimony that the things the spirit has already testified of are true. I have been blessed so much to have my testimony strengthened, fortified, built upon and brought to a whole new level of understanding. Family and friends- God lives and he loves you. You have a savior. He came down for you. He suffered for you. And through him you can overcome everything. You can be made clean. The spirit is there. He bares witness that Christ lives. I know you have felt the love of your savior in your life. One time. Do all you can to remember that moment. Cherish it. The spirit will bare its confirmation. He will teach you. This gospel is true. It is restored. We truly can be with our families forever. We truly can do great things. The savior knows you. one by one. he is with you, and is knocking. I pray that you may open his door. That you may feel his love. That you may repent of your sins, turn your heart to the Lord, and become more than you ever thought possible through the infinite power of his atonement! I love you all. 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간증 드립니다. 아멘.~

New area, 80+

Hey everyone! :) well time certainly doesn't seem to ever slow down. This time last week i was in 전주 running around getting things cleaned up and ready to go. and Now im in 대전 and don't feel like i have had much time to even unpack my bags :) haha but im loving every single moment! Elder Williams is one of the district leaders in my zone so it is super cool to get to hear from him and work with him! He is such an awesome missionary! 부전자전 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ!!!제가 훈련 시켜서 선교부 안내서 아버지 아들로 부릅니다~ haha anyways it is super weird being out of 전주 considering i served there for 9 months of my mission :) 대전 is very different, but i am loving ever moment! My new companion is Elder Khan! He is from New Zealand and is a total spiritual giant! This transfer is going to be awesome!  anyways miracle of the week.....we met this old grandpa investigator ( 80+) on friday evening. he is super super sweet! Apparently before he wasn't interested very much in the gospel but when we met him on friday all of a sudden he had a ton of interest. We invited him out to church and he came! :) he became really good friends with two other members close to his age. It was awesome to see them just pull him in. ANyways I got a chance to talk with him at the end and he asked if church is always the same time every week. I said yes :) he was super excited and just totally beaming. he says he wants to come out every week and he wants us to tell him what he needs to do to return to God after this life!  :) anyways super cool to just see how quickly the spirit came in and changed his life, despite how old he was. Goes to show that God will definitely never give up on preparing someone to hear the gospel :) anyways the work is going great! This week on Saturday Elder Christoferson will be coming to our mission and doing a mission tour! I can't wait! He will actually be coming to my ward building!!!! So COOL!!!!!!:) anyways i am definitely looking forward to getting to hear the words of a prophet of the lord! Well i hope you are all doing well! Sure love ya all! Im praying for you! Have a great week!

Transfer / ZL

Hey family! Sorry i don't have a ton of time to email today. it was a super crazy busy day and still have a ton to get done :) we got transfer calls and i am getting moved. kinda crazy cuz i have only been here for 2 transfers....but president needs me to come up to daejon. Dang things are going to be crazy up there :) haha i can't wait! It is going to be a super crazy learning experience being the zone leader in daejon. It is the largest zone in the mission and it also includes the mission headquarters so ill get to work super close with President :) i can't wait. but im in a whirlwind trying to say bye to investigators, members, get packed, and everything organized for the other missionaries :) haha. but this week was great. we had a big music fireside that we organized with all of the missionaries and it turned out to be just super amazing and super spiritual! one of the members recorded it and im hoping to get a copy soon:) we also were blessed to have 2 new investigators come out to church and we have a family here is getting close to being baptized! :) im so excited for them! They are progressing so well! Anyways! Definitley glad to be able to hand it over to some knew great elders that i know will take great care of them all! ANyways I love you all and hope you have an amazing week!

Little late but great!

So he sent this during the week while I was in Guatemala, I had poor connection there so I couldn't get it on the Blog until today, sorry it's late, but it's worth the wait, enjoy! -

Hey everyone!!!! wow can't believe i am emailing again, even after having an extra long week between pdays :) haha and i can't believe it is already mother's day next week!!!! this past week there were two big holidays here in Korea...just like usual, when there is a holiday in korea the whole country practically stops to take a break :) its pretty cool actually and a wonderful opportunity to get to meet tons of families all together :) we were blessed to get to meet two super cool new families. :) anyways the week is sure moving on! Something i noticed this week is that it is definitely true how as people start making the decision to follow Christ that Satan works even harder. It always makes me feel good when things start to get harder, it kind of reinforces the fact that i am doing the right thing. If Satan doesn't want me to make good choices than i can't imagine he would make it very easy as we choose them. But every time we make those decisions we make it further and further up the mountain of life. Going up isn't easy, but it is certainly always worth it! The disaster with the boat was definitely a big trail for the people here. But i am so grateful for the plan of salvation. I was thinking the other day about how being in life is like sitting in a big testing center at college. Taking the test is hard but as time passes on people start finishing the test and getting up and walking out. When this happens it is almost like an added pressure to those still taking the test. They feel as though the questions get harder and harder as they become one of the last few still in the testing center. But as soon as they finish the test they get up and walk out and it is finished. They now see all the other friends who finished first. Those who finished first and walked out didn't struggle anymore with the test, but those still taking the test struggled more. Just like in life as this life moves along, people we love and care about move on. It becomes harder on us...but if we will remember the plan, and that for them they are in a better place, and that we too will join them soon as soon as we have finished our own test. if we remember this i feel as though it is quite a huge comfort to those of us still 'taking the test'. This test is such a short time in the grand scheme of things. Remembering the Big picture....this is our time to prepare to meet God. He is with us as we take this test and he is waiting to wrap his arms around us as soon as we finish. I can't wait for that day when i am able to see my savior again! and i hope i can help as many people taking this life's test right now to find that same hope and perspective that will bring such a light to this life. I feel so grateful to be here serving! everyday i learn so much! :) im not sure if any of you will recognize me when i get back or not! I have been blessed to have to many life learning experiences which have really strengthened my testimony and have definitely helped me to see the world in a whole new light! Miracles exist. God Lives and Loves us. And he really does support us through this life, and guides and strengthens us everyday. I am so grateful to be able to serve! I hope you all have a wonderful week! youre in my prayers!

Easter

hey everyone!!! wow im already back here emailing again....time just doesn't slow down :)
haha sadly due to the fact that they don't really  celebrate easter here in korea i almost forgot that yesterday was easter until one of the members reminded me :) haha so me and my companion spent some time today during companionship study singing all the easter songs in the hymn book....there is only three, but it was still fun! haha. But this week we were so blessed to get to meet several new investigators. Some super cool new ones that i am definitely looking forward to getting to spend more time with. But the biggest miracle of this week was probably when one of our investigators called us and said he had finished reading the scripture assignment we had given him (2Nephi31) and that he wanted to meet that night. We met him at the church, and he actually brought a friend with him that he referred to us and said that he had read the scripture and that he knew he needed to get baptized. So we were able to set some goals with him and help him to prepare to take that step. It was just soooooo cool to see how powerful the book of mormon is in conversion. It is truely the keystone of our religion and man truly can get closer to God by abiding by its precepts than by any other book.
As always things are going well :) today is my companions birthday! happy birthday 박인오! haha and we are working just as crazy as ever. Family you remember the 21 day program you guys were doing with the missionaries there and how well it was going? Well i took the liberty of adjusting it a bit and translating it into korean and we are now doing it here with our members and they are loving it! :) keep them in your prayers as they look for people to share the gospel with! Anywas some thing i have really learned recently is the importance of managing time :) This is the lord's work, and this is his time, so i need to spend it his way and as effective as possible :) i have been blessed this past few weeks to learn some super great principles of leadership and balancing time. I think it is so interesting how much of a factor time is in everything. Appointment times, time based goals, lunch and dinner times (haha) etc.... but if one truly masters how to dicipline themselves and use their time to only do great things, and not merely just good things...they can truly accomplish so much more :) anyways this week as you all go out thing about how you are spending your time. Is the way youre spending your time the way Jesus Christ would have spent his time in your situation? :) anyways i love you all and am praying for you every day! :) I hope you all see tons of miracles and have tons of opportunities to share your testimonies with everyone! :) HAve a great week!

Angels among us

Haha dang i feel like i was just writing my last weekly letter like a day ago.....dang missionary life is like a timewarp....it goes by way to fast!  so i am starting yet another transfer this week....im not really sure which transfer it is and i dont really have time to stop and figure it out :) haha but this week was absolutely amazing as always. The members here in 전주 are starting to get excited about missionary work and with conference coming up this next week (In korea we watch it a week later than the rest of the world ;)) every one is looking forward to hearing the prophets words and learning how we can all grow closer to Christ. So with the new transfer starting my zone is changing a lot :) and im really excited that there will be another korean in the house. it will be me and my korean companion with elder smith and his korean companion....basically we aren't planning on speaking english ever this transfer so i am definitely looking forward to it! :) haha as if my english hasn't already gotten bad...i can only imagine how bad it will be after this....well pray for me to not loose my english, that would be embarrassing :) anyways things are going well right now here :) we have found several new investigators and they are progressing quickly. We also have been working super hard to re activate as many members as we can find. We were blessed to find 2 less active families this week and help them start back on the path. Anyways as always i am so amazed about how much I can learn from the lord in such a short amount of time. One of the greatest blessings i have felt recently is how i have been able to feel the promptings of the holy ghost more clearly. I feel like i have been able to learn so much through scripture study, investigator appointments, and trainings through the holy ghost and i am so very grateful to my father in heaven for guiding me and helping me to learn. I feel so blessed to know the Lord is on my side, there supporting me every day. As his child i have been able to feel angels surround me, supporting me, and guiding me through the struggles of life. Our lord is so merciful, so full of grace and so magnificent. I feel so inadequite and so blessed to be able to serve under his name. This is the lords work and i am so grateful to be a part of it! :) i hope you all feel the lords love as you go throughout this week and that you too can feel the angels he has sent to give you strength as well! I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

Light!

안녕하세요 여러분!!!!!:) {hello everyone}

This week has been crazy! I can't even believe that a whole week has past already! This transfer is over halfway over and i feel like i just barely got here!!! Anyways i have tons i wish i could talk about but due to time ill have to just touch on my favorite part of the week. STAKE CONFERENCE! Wow it was so amazing! Probably one of the most amazing stake conferences i have been to. I was blessed with the opportunity to get to translate for a couple of american members who attended as well, and that in and of itself was quite an amazing experience. I definitley was able to learn alot. We had Elder Whiting from the 70 come and preside and i got to meet with him and be with him and the spirit and testimony he brought truly was amazing. He was definitley called of the Lord and the Lord was with him.
Anyways something from stake conference that he said that i really liked was when he mentioned how, when Jesus was born the sign of his birth was a day and a night and a day of continuous LIGHT, and when he died the sign was three days of DARKNESS. The symbol of Christ is light, and the joy it brings. Light brings life and joy to the whole earth. I just thought it was soo cool to make that connection and to remember the result of the absence of Christ's light is darkness, confusion 등등. It is soo amazing to be a missionary and to get to watch as the light of Christ enters into the darkness of the world. Everyday as I see people make steps closer to being in the light, I find my own light inside growing and become even stronger. The Strength that comes from Christ is so amazing and i am so grateful for it. I am so grateful for the spirit and its guiding powers as well. It is amazing how much you can decern, understand, and the power that can be brought when talking with and by the spirit. Something else that i learned this week was about the difference between having the authority to doing things, and the power that comes through that authority to produce miracles. All of us recieve authority to do certain things for the lord, or even others, but unless we realize how we can use power to magnify that authority, we will only be able to accomplish things according to our personal ability. As we read in Alma Ch.17 the sons of mosiah understood this principle. They had authority to go and preach to the lamanites from the lord. But in chapter 17 we learn what they did in order to receive the power to magnify that authority. As we pray earnestly, fast, and devote our efforts to the lord. We qualify for that power. And as we excercise faith we are able to perform miracles for the lord. I know this is true personally. As we have faith and exercise that faith as a means of power we are able to accomplish so much more. To become so much more. And to be able to draw so much closer to our savior! Anyways i love you all so much and hope you can all feel the Lord's love for you as well. I am so grateful to know He is with you all, protecting you. I hope you find the strength from his light to continue on through all the trials in your life!

Time flys... Already 20

Hey everyone! :) Dang time is flying by sooooo fast!!!! It is crazy to think i am already 20!!! Weird! Anyways this week has been awesome! For the last 3 days straight it was raining, and while it is beautiful it makes it hard to missionary work outside :) But luckily the lord blessed us with many appointments so that we could continue to be effective and not have to worry to much about getting our feet wet :) haha anyways things are going super well! I don't think i have ever felt so busy in my life :) haha but i definiltey enjoy every single moment of it :) My Korean is definitely getting better! :) Being with my companion often has definitley helped :) right now i am teaching him english cuz he wants to go to BYU and he is helping me with my korean! :) its a win-win situation :) Sadly cuz we are constantly having to do splits, meetings, and other stuff around the zone we don't get a ton of time to teach eachother but its ok :) we are still learning a ton everyday! The lord is definiltey teaching me so much everyday!!!! Everyday i look back and realize how much i have learned in just a short amount of time...haha and then i look ahead.....WOW I still have a TON to learn! :) but hey, the lord is blessing me and helping every step of the way. I feel so loved to know that he knows me personally, that he is aware of my every moment, that he watches over me, guides me, and trusts me enough to make my own desicions, and then through those disicions as i make mistakes he feels me with his love and support so that i can overcome those things and become the true man he needs me to be. This work is amazing. Truly only through the service of the lord can we find who we truly are. I love you all so much and hope that as you go about your daily lives you feel the lords love for you, and find strength to overcome all the trials in your life. I know that through our Lord we truly can do all things. He loves us all so much, more than we could ever understand! I love you all and hope you have an amazing week!!!!:)

Crazy busy

Wow this has been one of the craziest busiest weeks of my life it seems :) haha, well im sure there are a lot more busy times but it definitley felt crazy. Anyways I got all moved in to my new house on thursday....well not really :) haha i got there with enough time to set my bags down and then walk back out the door to get to appointments and meetings :) finally got home had planning and went to bed. Then the next day i had to travel to daejon for meetings, then the next day we were out there door again super early in the morning for appointments and a youth activitiy and didn't return until that night and then church and more travel to meetings and then i am here today and tomorrow more mettings and a split :) haha basically i think my apartment is nice but i haven't really had a chance to look around in side other than my desk and bed :) haha anyways new area is sweet! We have the biggest ward building in the mission. Four floors with a full size basket ball court on the TOP floor!!! SWEET!!! :) cant wait to get to use that! :) Anyways my new companion is awesome! his name is 박인오 장로님 {Elder Pak In Hoe} and he is just awesome! :) I can't wait to get to serve with him this transfer!!!! Anyways this zone is so awesome! I can't wait to get to serve with them all. The stake i am over is a really old stake. One that has been around for a long long time. It is so cool to get to see the deep culture that is enrooted here. The stake president here is awesome too and i am so glad i will get to serve more closely with him as well :) Anyways i have to get going :) but i hope all is going well! :) I love you all and pray you feel the saviors love and his infinite atonement every day of your lives!!!!! Have a wonderful week!!!!

Baptism, Thank you for the prayers

Enjoy!!! {Translations by Dad}

Hey everyone!!! Wow this crazy has been absolutely amazing, crazy, and wow it flew bye. Haha anyways it was an absolutely wonderful baptism on friday with 김진솔 {Kim Jin Sool}thank you all so much for all the prayers. And he was able to bare his testimony to 3 other investigators and it was awesome. They all came out to church and are showing some really great interest in the Church. I feel so blessed to have been able to serve here in 중앙{Joong-ong} ward! It has been a roller coaster....moment after moment of learning experiences, miracles, and joy. It definitely is hard saying goodbye. I feel like this ward has become my family, and i am so grateful i have gotten to know all of them. Anyways long story short we got transfer calls today! :) My new are.....전주{Jeon Ju}! For those of you who don't know Korea....전주 {Jeon Ju}is the city i am in :) haha i am switching wards and boundaries but will be in the same city!!!:) I am so excited i have already been able to meet a lot of the ward members in 전주 and they are all awesome :) i can't wait to get to serve with them. My new companion....박인호 장로님 {Elder Pac In Hoe}! A KOREAN!!!!:) I am so excited! I haven't been able to serve with a korean companion since my first transfer in korea and that was only for 4 weeks so i am definitely looking forward to getting to serve with him and he is an awesome missionary so it is going to be so great! Also turns out that Elder Paskett, our zone leader, got called to be the new Assistant to President!! he is going to be so great! He has helped and taught me so much! He used to be companions with 박인호 장로님{Pac In Hoe}. So Ill be moving to 전주 {Jeon Ju}to take his place. And looks like ill get to learn a ton more as the new zone leader. I can't wait to see what the next few transfer has to bring. I am so grateful for this opportunity to get to learn and grow! it will definitely be a learning experience, but i can't wait to start on the new adventure. Anyways all in all i don't have a lot of time to email today because i have to go get packed but I hope you all have a wonderful week! Thankyou so much for the prayers and advice from all of you! I am so grateful to know that the Lord is watching over each one of you and I pray that he is with every one of us as we take on the challenges that present themselves in this life. I know that through God we can do all things. Without him we are nothing, but through him there is no task to big; nothing we cannot overcome. May the windows of heaven continue to be opened to this world, that we may marvel at the wonderous blessings from our father and savior. All my love- Elder Bigler

Miracles!

Enjoy! {added by Dad}

Wow time is passing by way to fast!  haha. This week has been super crazy. So for the last month or so we have been showering in water that dances back and forth from super cold to kinda warm and back to super cold. Kinda a fun adventure every morning. haha but this past week our boiler pretty much exploded on the inside and all warm water completely disappeared! haha definitley woke us up every morning getting to shower in that. but we finally got everything figured out friday and now WARM WATER!!! dang i have never realized before how much of a convenience it is to have a warm shower in the mornings. Anyways aside from that adventure this week was huge of disappointments and miracles. I definitley have come to know the Lord is truly aware of us. so this past sunday we were supposed to have a baptism for a super super awesome investigator. his name is 김진솔 {Kim, Jin Sole}. He was super golden. Even quit his job so that he could come out to church and get baptized. We had everything all lined up and were all super excited....then about 2 weeks ago we got a text from him saying hey sorry some things have come up ill text you later. and then nothing....nothing for 2 weeks straight. his baptism date came and disappeared. We called him, no answer, texted him, no reply, knocked his door, and no one was ever there. I was certainly confused. How could someone so golden and so ready just disappear like that? a week ago on the sunday he was supposed to come i went to church slightly down in spirits. I thought i must have said something, must have messed something up. I had been praying so hard. I knew that i only had 3 weeks left in my area because president had told me that he would move me next transfer and i really wanted to leave the ward with something special before i left. I love this ward so much and at this point i i didn't know what to do. I got to church and walked into the 예비실 (what do you call that in america? the worship room?) {Chappell} anyways i walked in and when i walked in one of my favorite members came up to me. Her name is 장이 자매님 {sister Jang Ie} and she is basically my korean mom! She is so awesome and has helped us so much. Anyways she came up to me and was like Elder Bigler Elder Bigler come here!!! I asked her whats up, everything ok? her reply, i brought my dad to church! He is 89 years old and hasn't been baptized. I have been working with him, and he is completely ready for the lessons. Completely ready was an understatement! HE IS COMPLETELY GOLDEN! And it just so turns out, not only is he 장이 자매님's dad but he is also the grandfather of our ward mission leader! Truly an answer to my prayers! he is now preparing to be baptized and has already prepare several names of family members whom have passed away to do temple work for them! he is so amazing! So that huge miracle came after the loss of 김진솔 {Kim, Jin Sole} but that wasnt the end. On friday nightI got a text. 김진솔!!!!!! he called me and said sorry he had to go on a sudden trip that came up and left his phone with his sister because she needed to borrow it. He said he was soooo sorry and with little hope in his eyes asked me if he could still be baptized. We made arrangements and he will be baptized this week! Please keep him in your prayers! Anyways truly a week full of miracles. I know the lord is with us all and his timing is better than ours. He knows our desires and wants us to experience true, everlasting joy! I hope you all can feel his love and know he is always there for you! I hope you have a wonderful week and love you all!

Chinese New Years

Hey everyone!!!! Wow this week just flew by! In America im sure this week is very exciting considering it all led up to the super bowl. Here in Korea it was all super exciting as well :) but for a slightly different celebration. In korea there are two super big holidays. 추석 {Korean Thanksgiving} and 설날 {New Years day - it was Chineese New Years this past week}. The whole country pretty much shuts down for these two holidays. Well this past week was 설날. So from about last wednesday til today the whole country practically shut down :) haha and what do all these Korean's do on these holidays? EAT! haha EAT EAT EAT and play a few games and do some cool cultural things called 재사 and 세배. Anyways it was a super cool experience! We spent most of the time with various member families. Eating tons of food, playing some unique korean games, and enjoying every moment! It was such a cool experience. Anyways aside from 살날 this week was awesome. I definitely have had several opportunities to learn and grow in ways i never thought would happen. Its amazing how the Lord works. He knows us all so much better than we know ourselves. He know exactly what we need, and when we need it in order to learn. When praying for mountains to climb the lord brings experiences and opportunities into our life to strengthen us, to increase our dependence on him, and to find true peace and solice in the rest of our Lord. I am so grateful to know that he loves me, is always there for me, and will forever be my strength. I hope as you all go on this week you remember what great things the lord has done for you in your life. Hold on to his grace, his love, his mercy, and his infinite atoning sacrifice. Through him we can accomplish all things, and through him we can all return to live with our father in heaven and become even as he is. Pure, just, all-knowing, loving, and full of grace. Oh how i wish i could be like my father in heaven. His example and his guidance are so perfect, and i am so grateful for all he has done for me! I love you all and hope you have an amazing week!

Second generation... Carrying on!!!

hey everyone! holy cow this week has been amazing! Its so amazing to see what the windows of heaven bring to our lives every week! So I didn't get transfered :) I am still here in 중앙! 얘!!! and my comp is still elder Hill! we are being blessed here so much and so when i called president and asked him to please let me stay one more he said ok one more but ill have to leave after that:) YES!!!! haha awh i love this ward! I have been here for so long and seen so many miracles and growth in both people and the ward in general! :) but guess what! so this week one of the elders got transfered out and a Korean moved into the house. his name is 김영찬 장로님. and the coolest thing!!!!...... his dad is 김용태! I know all of you guys are like no big deal... i dont know who that is....haha but catch this.....김용태 was my dad's companion when he served here in korean 20 years ago!!!! so sweet!!!!! :) awh 김영찬 is already like a best friend to me! he is so great! and it is so cool to see us in the same house he and i being the eldest son of our fathers who served together as APs here! so crazy! :) haha anyways....well this week has been great! the ward is absolutely amazing and we are learning so much. It is going to be so hard to leave here in a few weeks when the next transfer comes. I have grown and learned a ton here! anyways i hope you all have an amazing week and remember that our heavenly father knows everything he is with us every moment of everyday and no matter what he is going to take care of us and give us what he knows is best for us. Everyone of us comes to points in our lives where we face several doors, not sure which one we should open, or where to go. Let us all follow our savior, take the doors he opens for us, and continue with faith, and diligence. For through him we truly can do all things. Through him we truly can return to live with our father in heaven and our families for ever! I love you all and hope you have an awesome week!

True relationships and Pics!

Oh my goodness this week flew by soooooo fast! its crazy! We got transfer calls today! I am so blessed to get to stay here again with Elder Hill! :) We are so busy and have so much going, i can't wait to see what this transfer brings! :) also to make it even better! A korean is coming to be companions with the other elder in my house! You know what that means?....I am only speaking korean every day this transfer!!!!:) 대박!!!! hahah anyways things are going so great over here! We have been so blessed! The ward here is the best! And i can't wait to serve with them more! Something i have been reflecting on this week is how powerful relationships are. In korea, as i have probably mentioned before, relationships(particularly 정) is extrememly important. I have been so blessed to have been able to met, be around, associate, create friendships, and be surrounded by such amazing friends and family! One of the greatest blessings our father in heaven gives us is our family. They play such an essential role in our lives, who we become, how we cope with challenges, and can be our source of faith, hope, strength, love, and companionship. So much strength then comes from whom we associate with ourselves.  whom can we trust? To whom can we turn to? Whom shall we rely on? Consequently these are all questions we face in our lives amongst our challenges, our struggles, and times of need. Often times the answers to these questions can cause tramatic differences upon the outcome of our future. I have seen this so much! Particularly since having come out on my mission. First in how people have influenced and guided me to making this choice to come and experience all the blessings that come from a mission, and secondly to see how other people (investigators and members) here constantly turn to others in time of need. I have such a strong testimony! the answer to these questions undoubtably are Christ! We can always trust him, we can always turn to him, and we can always rely on him. He has become my base and it has brought so much joy and strength to my life and i know it can bring so much joy and strength to the lives of all of those around the world! He always knows what is best for us! He understands the big picture so carefully! As i have come to rely on him so much every day i have been able to come closer to him, to realize his tender mercies on a more day to day basis. I have been strengthened and edified by his love! I am so grateful to have been able to come on a mission. It has opened my eyes to something much more wonderful, something much more desirable than anything simply this world can offer. As we all make steps through our lives let us make ever step in the footsteps of our lord. For he is our shepard and he knows the way back to eternal joy! I love you all so much and hope you are blessed in your endeavours as well as your advent to creating a stronger relationship with your father in heaven and your brother, even Jesus Christ!
Love you All!

Happy New Year!

It was wonderful to Skype with Tyler for Christmas, what a treat! He looked good and sounded great! His Korean has come along amazingly, I'm sure he'll have to give me some pointers now! Here is his New Year letter, thankfully he didn't make translate the whole thing! Enjoy!

새해 복 많이 받으세요!!!! 와 이미 새해요???? 시간이 토끼보다 갔어요! (The time has passed faster than a rabbit) 한 일년 전 제가 MTC에서 있었지만 지금 한국 백성 가운데 예수 그리스도의 충만한 복음을 전파하고 있어요!  (A year ago I was in the MTC now I'm in the midst of the Korean people proclaiming the true gospel of Jesus  Christ!) 작년 많이 배웠는 데 금년에 더 배울거에요!!!! (I've learned a lot this past year, and will continue to learn this year!!!) Ok ill switch into english so dad doesn't have to translate my whole letter :) but be ready dad im plannin on sending one in korean soon :) haha anyways things here are going just as awesome as ever! The ward has set up tons of goals and plans for how to do better missionary work and have committed that it wont turn into a 용두사미! (korean for a big start and a small finish i.e Dragons head lizards tail.) I think that that is probably the most important thing about goals that i have learned this year. I wish i had more time to talk about it all. This week i really ran out of time fast cuz i had to take care of a few things that came up mid email time :) haha so ill have to send more next time. But I just wanted to wish everyone a super amazing year and share a secret i have learned  this year that has really made me learn a ton! :) The secret to goals, and accomplishing more than you thought possible. Step one assess your resources. Step two determine how far you can get with your resources. Step three pray about it and tell your goal to God. Step four refine your goal to the goal God wants you to acheive( because you forgot that your greatest resource is the power of God that will be with you :)) Step five break down your goal into smaller goals that are easy to measure on a monthly, weekly, and daily basis. Step six set up some form of accountability, whether that be with a friend, parent, leader (basically anyone you trust). Then get down on your knees and give your commitment to God and hold yourself accountable to him. Step 8 start right away towards accomplishing it. Step 9 measure completion of your goals often and give constant gratitute to leaders, parents and particularly God. And Finally set a new goal to start towards the next thing right before you finish your goal so that you are constantly growing and become more :) It is easier to keep a train going then to get it going again after it has stopped :) Anyways i love you all so much and hope you have an amazing new year! I wish you all good luck on your goals and can't wait to see us all together at the point of our biggest goal. Returning to our father in heaven to live with him forever! :)
